After graduation, Jerry joined the US Coast Guard, demonstrating his patriotism and commitment to serving his country. Upon completing his service, he returned to Clark Electric before embarking on a distinguished 34-year career at C&P Telephone, which later transitioned into Verizon. Jerry’s dedication and expertise made him a valued member of the telecommunications industry, earning him the respect of colleagues and peers.

 Personal Life and Legacy
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Jerry cherished his role as a loving husband, father, brother, and uncle. He shared 46 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Nancy L. Derickson, and together they built a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. Jerry’s playful spirit and sense of humor endeared him to all who knew him, and his knack for pulling off a good prank always kept things lively.

Jerry was an active member of his community, contributing his time and talents to various organizations. He was a proud member of American Legion Post 64 in Salisbury and a former member of VFW Post 2996. Jerry also served as a Boy Scout leader, guiding and mentoring young scouts as they navigated life’s adventures. His love for the outdoors led him to hike the Appalachian Trail, pursue skiing, and enjoy leisurely strolls through nature.
