Douglas Waite Obituary, Death –  On February 29, 2024, the world lost a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, Douglas Scott Waite, after his courageous battle with Parkinson’s Disease. His life was a testament to love, laughter, and leaving a lasting legacy. Born on April 30, 1951, in Wabash, Indiana, Douglas touched the lives of many through his intelligence, humor, and unwavering spirit.

 Early Life and Education: 

Douglas was a proud graduate of Clay City Jr./Sr. High School, where he laid the foundation for his future academic and professional endeavors. He furthered his education at Ivy Tech, earning an associate’s degree in electronics, which paved the way for a successful career in communications technology with GTE.

 Passions and Hobbies: 

Beyond his professional pursuits, Douglas was a man of diverse interests and hobbies. He had a deep passion for cars, particularly NASCAR, and cherished family trips to races and drag competitions. His love for building and creating extended to projects such as restoring a classic 1968 Camaro and crafting various items with his own hands. Additionally, Douglas found solace in fishing and enjoyed engaging in sports with his family, always infusing moments with his trademark humor and warmth.

 Community and Faith: 

Douglas’s commitment to his community was exemplified through his active involvement in the First United Church of Christ in Clay City. He served the church in various capacities, embodying his faith through service and compassion. His generosity and willingness to lend a hand extended beyond the church walls, as he was known for his willingness to help others and share his expertise in cars and landscaping.

 Legacy and Family: 

Douglas’s legacy is one of love, laughter, and an indomitable spirit. He leaves behind his loving wife of over 52 years, Dr. Adel Marlane Inman Waite, two sons, Steven Douglas Waite and Andrew Scott Waite, grandson Corbin Scott Waite, and a large extended family. His memory will be cherished by all who knew him, and his impact will be felt for generations to come.
